Citizens need to learn the new culture of telling the truth to bring about good understanding and realization of peace and reconciliation in South Sudan.
These were words of National Healing Peace and Reconciliation Committee Chairperson Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul while opening one-month training on Wednesday in Yei, Easter Radio reported.
He attributed the cause of the violence to the fact that South Sudanese identify themselves with their tribes.
Archbishop Deng stressed the need to strengthen unity and diversity of tribes for other countries to fear South Sudan.
He said citizens cannot challenge the government due to disunity among them.
Yei Catholic Bishop Erkulano Lodu Tombe described the training as very important for citizens to explore modalities of bringing peace and healing to the nation.
He said human heart also looks for peace, love and reconciliation where there is war, hatred and quarrels.
The one-month training that started on Wednesday under the theme: ‘A step
together: Shared journeys of listening and dialogue’, brought together 80 community and faith-based practitioners from across the country.
