Speaker Magok threatens action against legislators’ prosecution

National Legislative Assembly Speaker on Monday threatened action against anybody prosecuting Members of Parliament or MPs without seeking his permission.
 
Manasseh Magok Rundial told the Augus House that he was concerned about hearing prosecution of his colleague from Lakes State by the State Governor Matur Chut Dhuol.
 
He assured MPs amidst applause that he would not stay aloof watching and hearing prosecution of legislators.
 
Speaker Magok instructed Lakes State MPs to meet him on Tuesday to discuss prosecution concerns.
 
Lakes State MP Daniel Deng Monydit informed the assembly on Monday morning that Governor Chut was prosecuting him amidst immunity against voting for his removal.
 
He said Lakes State Governor issued an order to confiscate his personal house without seeking permission from the assembly’s speaker for a case against a member as stipulated in the constitution.
 
MP Deng disclosed that the governor earlier on attempted to grab his house, but the state cabinet ruled that the house belongs to him and that the governor renewed the confiscation against stance for his removal.
 
It is not yet clear what action the national legislature would take against the Lakes State Governor.
