UNMISS Chief visits Wau

United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS new head on Tuesday arrived in Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal to discuss challenges facing the state as the country struggles to bring peace.
 
Ellen Margrethe L√∏j said her visit aims at meeting the state government to acquaint herself with difficulties in the state after December crisis that started in Juba, Voice of Hope reported.
 
She explained that UNMISS mandate is to protect civilians and provide humanitarian aid to all affected people.
 
Ms Margrethe said peace is the only solution to South Sudan crisis, calling on all political leaders and citizens to exert more efforts to bring peace to South Sudan.
 
State Deputy Governor Zachariah Joseph Garang appreciated the UNMISS for supporting the government, saying Western Bahr El Ghazal was not affected by the December crisis, with only some SPLA soldiers fraction who defected from Mapel.
 
Ellen Margrethe L√∏j assumed office in September as the Special Representative of the Secretary General and the head of UNMISS.
