Fr Anthony Ubeo who, represented the Apostolic Administrator, Monsignor Thomas Oliha in his homily said St Matthew was attracted to Messiah after hearing about him, Emmanuel Radio reported

He said Jesus saw Matthew also known as Levi, seated in the Customs office and asked the tax collector to follow him.

Fr Ubeo explained that St Matthew, who had a simple life, followed Jesus without any resistance.

He added that St Matthew was rejected because of working as a tax collector for the Romans.
