Tonj South County non-governmental organizations or NGOs and Warrap State government distributed non-food items to flood affected people in Malual-Muok, Mabior-Yar and Thiet Payams.

Collaborazione Comitato Medica or CCM Officer Iresh Nyambiki said they gave some mosquito nets to flood victims, but the aid remains inadequate due to an overwhelming number of victims, Don Bosco Radio reported.

She urges flood victims to visit nearest health facility whenever they fall sick to prevent waterborne diseases like malaria.

World Vision Officer James Malil said during their assessment in Thiet, they found 1,500 people affected by flood.

He added that the assessment showed others sheltering along road sides without food, medicines and water.

Mr Malil pledges to provide services to the victims to improve their condition.

Tonj South Commissioner William Wol Mayom said all areas affected last year were again affected this year due to heavy rains.

He said people reported that floods destroyed all crops and many people were bitten by snakes.

The Commissioner appeals to Warrap State government and NGOs to intervene in situation.
