Leaders pray for late Bishop Gasi to intercede for peace

Church and world leaders on Tuesday prayed that the late Emeritus Bishop of Tombura-Yambio Joseph Gasi Abangite who died on Saturday and buried on Tuesday, intercedes for South Sudanese to have peace in their country.
 
Western Equatoria Governor Bangasi Joseph Bakosoro asked the faithful to pray that the late Bishop intercession may bring peace, unity and love to South Sudan, Anisa Radio reported.
 
Sudan Catholic Bishop’s Conference or SCBC Vice President Bishop Erkulano Lodu Tombe said people concerned about peace like the late Bishop Joseph Gasi Abangite would cry when they see South Sudan being torn apart by war.
 
Tombura-Yambio Catholic Bishop Barani Edwardo Hiiboro Kusala recalled that the late Bishop Gasi was very instrumental in advocating for peace and advised the late Dr John Garang, former Kenyan President and other world leaders to end the 21-year civil war in the Sudan.
 
Bishop Hiiboro described his predecessor a holy man who worked for education and peace.
 
Presidential Advisor on Religious Affairs who represented the national government Fr Mark Lote’de Lochapi reassured Tombura-Yambio believers of the government’ solidarity and support both spiritually and materially.
