Central Equatoria State Governor is expected to land in Moyo-Kajo-Keji burning spots on Saturday to calm down rising tensions between South Sudan-Uganda border communities of Ma’di and Kuku that witnessed violence and displacement of over 2,000 South Sudanese on Monday.

Kajo-Keji County Commissioner Henry Kala Sabuni told CRN in a telephone interview that Clement Wani Konga confirmed his visit to the clashing communities within two days from Thursday.

He disclosed that Governor Wani would proceed to Uganda’s Moyo District to see the bloody households’ torching and meet Ugandan authorities to sort out border crisis at the contested scene.

Commissioner Kala said South Sudanese forced out from Moyo District face humanitarian emergency including water shortage at the former UNHCR Kangai Way Station.

He added that communities’ efforts to contribute food items including cassava and maize seem to be overwhelmed by over pouring victims of border dispute.

Commissioner Kala disclosed that Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan Kajo-Keji Diocese Bishop Anthony Dangasuk Poggo helped with a tank of water.

Moyo-Kajo-Keji border crisis heightened to forced migration from violent Ugandan protestors against recent arrest at contested Sunyu area and subsequent 24 hours detention of 16 Ugandans in the County Headquarters.

The 16 detainees included Moyo District Local Council V Chairman Jimmy Vukoni who led a team of enumerators to South Sudanese communities for Uganda population census.

An anonymous Ugandan source confirmed hearing of a scheduled meeting between Uganda and South Sudan in Kajo-Keji to resolve the violent border tension.
