Persons living with disabilities in Yei River County on Monday during International Democracy Day celebration, called on communities and the governments to treat them equally with able people.
Persons with disabilities representative Samuel Data James said they are usually neglected and given no chances to express their views in communities, Easter Radio reported.
Otogo Payam disabled persons’ representative Rose Night urged the state government to consider them in decision making since disability is not inability.
Yei Mayor Santo Paul Lasuba advised disabled people to form an association so that their challenges are looked upon as a group, saying the government did not forget them.
He called on citizens to avoid consumption of dry meat especial pigs and monkeys to prevent spreading Ebola to the country.
