Fire reduced nearly 1,400 students’ mattresses and 100 beds to ashes at the University of Bahr El Ghazal as it prepares to start new academic year.
University Vice Chancellor Samson Wasara told journalist on Monday that the mattresses were kept in a store as students were for long vacation, Voice of Hope reported.
He explained that the fire that started at around 9:00 PM was caused by electricity, contenting that the store was closed.
Fire Brigade authorities said the outbreak was reported late and was impossible to save the items in the store.
