Kajo-Keji police released sixteen Ugandans including the local councillors and three journalists in Moyo District after a one night detention following illegal entry to the county’s territory to count Sunyu residents to be under their locality.
Senior Information Inspector Beden Elikana Kenyi said Moyo leaders and Commissioner Henry Kala Sabuni resolved to have a joint cross border meeting for traditional leaders to discuss issues of common interest.
He said the Commissioner warned that the counting of people in the area should stop until President Salva Kiir Mayardit and Yoweri Kaguta Museveni resolved border demarcation.
The Inspector disclosed that it is not the first time they attempted to grab the county’s land by counting the people.
Mr Elikana said Ugandan authorities reacted to the arrest of their leaders by chasing away people of Kajo-Keji living in Moyo including those admitted in Mulago Hospital.
The Inspector urged President Salver Kiir to respond to the situation as quick as possible, saying people fear that the same issue would happen in the future as it became recurrent.
