New UNMISS chief arrives in Juba

The new Special Representative of the UN Secretary General or SRSG and head of the UN Mission in South Sudan arrived in Juba on Tuesday morning to take up her duties.
 
Deputy SRSG Toby Lanzer and the Undersecretary in the Foreign Ministry Charles Manyang received Ellen Margretthe Loj at Juba International Airport.
 
She told the press after touchdown at the airport that she was very happy to be in South Sudan and looks forward to start her new function.
 
Ms Loj added that she will need a lot of briefings and get to know South Sudan because it is a huge challenge.
 
The new chief who succeeded Hilde F Johnson on July 8 served as SRSG to the UN Mission in Liberia from 2008 to 2012.
