Eastern Equatoria State government would sue a 30 year old Congolese woman on suspicion of child abduction.

Rebecca Mado would appear in court over alleged abduction of an eight year old girl who denies being a biological daughter, Emmanuel Radio reported.

Eastern Equatoria State Inspector for Child Welfare Oting Elizeo said the girl testified against the accused as an abducted kid from Ariwara town of Democratic Republic of Congo.

The girl identified her biological mother as Tabu Dawa in Ariwara town in DR Congo.

She said Mado was her mother’s friend who stole her in February from Ariwara to Torit.

The Inspector disclosed that the suspect was torturing the girl and she decided to seek protection from a neighbour who reported the matter to the ministry.

Mr Elizeo said the girl stayed for three days with a neighbour who brought her to their office.

A woman identified as Awadia Sebit who claims to be a family friend also testified against Mado as an abductor.

Child welfare State Director Jane Gama Surur revealed sights of terrifying marks including wounds and scars of torture by the suspect.

The state ministry is tracing parents of the girl to reunite her with the family in DRC.
