Hundreds of people in Rumbek, Lakes state on Thursday marched on streets of the town demonstrating against the recommendation of the National Legislative Assembly to remove Governor Matur Chut Dhuol.
Rumbek Youth Union chairperson Zachariah Gum said civil society organizations, youth groups, women group and trade unions collectively condemned the lawmakers’ recommendation, Good News Radio reported.
He told the protestors that Governor Chut is the not the cause of problems instead he is trying to bring lasting peace to the state.
Governor Chut urged politicians in Juba to table important topics like poor roads and arm linkage for discussions.
The Governor thanked the public for the support they showed in trusting him, adding that five hundred people cannot remove a person supported by over thousand people.
The protestors were carrying various slogans written including General Matur is the best choice for this era of sectional fight, rejection of removal of Lakes state Governor Matur Chut, Lakes State problems not caused by Matur Chut.
