Western Bahr El-Ghazal State Minister of Youth and sports accused Juba Monitor newspaper management of defamation, threatening it to apologize or face court suit.
Elia Kamilo Dimo told a press conference on Monday in Wau that the print media published an article dated April 22 in its third page, quoting him writing ‘Community of Wau congratulates State Legislative Assembly on maintaining the constitution’.
He denied having written such article claiming that hackers created an email in his name and the paper blindly published it without consultation.
Mr. Kamilo accused Juba Monitor Newspaper for acting irresponsibly asking them to apologize or face the law.
He called on security personnel to scrutinize publication before its distribution to the public.
Juba Monitor Chief Editor Alfred Taban told CRN that he was not aware of the accusation made, declining to answer more questions.
The article reportedly criticised Western Bahr El-Ghazal Governor for favouring appointees in contrast with elected leaders as a proof of his unpopularity.
