The introduction of many roadblocks and floating of US Dollar exchange rates impacted negatively on local business people in Wau, Western Bahr El Ghazal.

Kanda Ya Nini Supermarket manager at Wau Market Hakim Samuel said many roadblocks due to insecurity affected traders’ profits, Voice of Hope reported.

He said in each roadblock, traders pay as much as 50 or more South Sudanese Pounds.

Mr Samuel complained that many foreign dealers who were supposed to specialize in wholesale decided to deal on retail sales, interfering in local traders’ profits.

He called on Western Bahr El Ghazal’s Chamber of Commerce to restrict investors to only deal with wholesales.

Mr Samuel said the fluctuating Dollar rate in the black market affect local traders because foreign business persons without licences buy the hard currency at high rates.

The manager called on the state government to exempt food items from taxes
