The peace talks in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia between the government and the SPLM/A in opposition were again suspended at the request of Intergovernmental Authority on Development or IGAD mediators.

Government spokesperson Michael Makuei Lueth on Tuesday evening told the press at Juba International Airport upon arrival from Addis Ababa, Ethiopia that they were told to break off for 30 days.

He said the talks were suspended because the Ethiopian Prime Minister went to Brussels, Belgium to attend the EU-Africa Summit.

SPLM/A in opposition spokesperson Hussein Maar Nyuot said mediators wanted to consult with IGAD heads, requesting for a break of one month until April 30.

He added that when the talks reconvene, the negotiating parties would sign an agenda and declaration of principles before striking a peace deal.
