National Healing, Peace and Reconciliation Committee on Thursday consulted religious women leaders on a peaceful way to resolve the ongoing conflict.
The Committee Secretary General Rev Bernard Oliya Suwa said women have power to control violence in any community, Bakhita Radio reported.
He said they want to empower women to talk to their husbands and children to stop the senseless fighting that is destroying the country.
Rev Oliya called on the warring parties to cease hostilities because peace and reconciliation cannot be done while fighting continues in the nation.
One of the religious women leaders, Nasadu Emma, expressed women’s confidence to realize peace in South Sudan.
She called on the warring parties to hear the voice of women.
National Healing, Peace and Reconciliation Committee chairperson Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul attended the two-day consultative meeting.
