South Sudan registered zero case of Guinea worm since January.
Eastern Equatoria Health Minister Margaret Itto told the press in Juba on Tuesday that South Sudan had the highest number of worms in the past few years, Bakhita Radio reported.
She said the country was working very hard to realize the world target of zero Guinea worm by 2015.
Dr Itto cited a number of challenges facing the country ranging from infrastructure to human resources.
She added that lack of facilities was another difficulty the country experiences.
The minister talked to the media in Juba on Tuesday after attending the 18th Guinea worm eradication meeting in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
