A team from the Norwegian Embassy in Kampala, Uganda arrived in Yambio on Tuesday to assess security situation and the aftermath of the Lord’s Resistance Army or LRA atrocities in Western Equatoria.
State Gender, Child and Social Welfare Ministry Religious Director Fr Mark Kumbonyeki accompanied the team to Yambio Commissioner’s office, Anisa Radio reported.
He said the team wanted to know how the state was managing the aftermath of the LRA and the situation of women abductees rescued from the bush in Nzara County.
Norwegian Embassy member Anita Kokar said they wanted to know the resettlement process of the Internally Displaced Persons or IDPs including Congolese refugees at Makpandu in Yambio County.
Acting Commissioner Daniel Matthew Waure said only few cases of LRA atrocities were reported in Yambio County recently.
He said the Congolese refugees were safe in the County and that their general security was normal.
