WES Education Minister plans school feeding

Western Equatoria Education Minister on Tuesday met World Food Program or WFP Senior Advisor to find ways to start school feeding programmes in the state.
 
Pia Philip Michael said the state government succeeded in food security because Governor Bangasi Joseph Bakasoro always encourages people to cultivate, Anisa Radio reported.
 
He said it was the interest of the ministry to support school children with food to keep them complete their syllabus.
 
WFP Senior Advisor Zahra Lillian said they assessed all states to find out vulnerable ones with acute malnutrition in order to introduce the school feeding program.
 
She said their assessment indicated that Western Equatoria was better than many states in terms of food and education.
 
He expressed hope that WFP would collaborate with local communities, national ministries of Education and Agriculture to support schools’ gardens to feed learners nationwide.
