Western Bahr El Ghazal commemorated World Water Day on Monday at Wathalel Boma of Rocrocdong Payam in Jur River County under the theme ‘Water and energy’.

Save the Children State Coordinator Atako Naome Muhwezi told citizens to keep water sources clean in order to avoid water borne diseases, Voice of Hope reported.

She argued that water and energy are interrelated and that all communities and stakeholders were in Wathalel to appreciate water importance to life.

Ms Naomi said maintenance of water sources including boreholes remains a challenge to all communities.

She called on the state government and partners to increase provision of clean drinking water.

State Water Inspector Isaac Emerio observed that limited resources hinder government’s efforts to provide sustainable water sources.

Mr Emerio reiterated government’s commitment to ensure that basic services reach the grassroots.

World Water Day is one of the important international days celebrated every year on March 22.
