National Health Ministry’s Undersecretary disclosed government plan to double 2014 medical personnel training admission to scale up human resource development.
Makur Matur Kariom told journalists on Monday in Juba that a ministerial meeting resolved to open new medical schools in Torit, Yambio, Wau, Aweil and Bor.
He added that Bor Medical School would be the first to start operating in the nearest future.
Dr Matur admitted irregularities of medical supplies, saying the ministry was addressing emergencies in many states.
He assured citizens of regular supplies to states especially essential medicines.
The Undersecretary said Health Minister Dr Riek Gai Kok would table resolutions on private medical facilities operation before the cabinet in the coming days.
Dr Matur added that the resolutions once adopted by the cabinet, would address unlicensed and uncertified medical practices in the country.
The Undersecretary said health situation in South Sudan remains normal and that the ministry is prepositioning anti-malarial drugs in many states for the rainy season.
