Civil society organizations on Tuesday called on the government and internally displaced persons or IDPs to cooperate to help improve living conditions in camps before the start of heavy rains.
Community Empowerment for Progress CEPO Executive Director Edmond Yakani urged the government to reduce hardships humanitarian agencies face in delivering aid to IDPs and host communities, Bakhita Radio reported.
He called on the IDPs to give solutions they think best can resolve their problems in camps.
The Director called for the urgent need to improve shelters and sanitation to avoid disease outbreak in the camps.
Greater Equatoria, Bhar El Ghazal and Upper Nile Centre for Peace and Development or GEBU chairman Peter Atem denied claims that the civil society was not neutral during the current conflict.
He said the civil society work for all the people in the country.
Mr Atem pointed out that the figure of people affected by the conflict was more than four million.
He called on the conflicting parties to reach peace because people in camps of Turale and Duk Padiet were suffering.
A great number of IDPs are suffering in camps within and outside the country.
