Women in Eastern Equatoria state blame poor participation in peace initiatives on bad cultural practices.
In a peace and security forum in Torit on Friday, women noted that they are always sidelined in conflicts settlement among communities, Emmanuel Radio reported.
The women also cited financial shortage to implement peace initiatives.
Other challenges hindering women participation in peace and security matters include lack of respect to human rights, rule of law and enforcement.
They also called for exposure to other countries, bridging a gap between female politician and their intellectual counterparts.
The forum resolved that women should be sensitized on peace building and reconciliation.
The one-day forum was organized by the United Nations Mission in South Sudan Civil Division.
