Abyei Joint Oversight Committee or AJOC acting co-chair on Friday said some unknown people suspected Misseriya militants killed two people and wounded one woman in Nyinichor area, about fifteen kilometers away from Abyei town.
AJOC acting co-chair Deng Mading Mijak told journalists in Juba that the deceased were identified as Wol Anei, a man and Adau Chol, a woman.
He added that one unidentified woman was wounded during the militants’ attack.
Mr Mading said the attack was a continuation of a furious fighting two weeks ago between Misseriya militias and Ngok Dinka at Maar Al Bior areas.
He revealed that many people were killed in the incident, expressing fears that it was escalating with the new confrontation in other parts of Abyei.
The AJOC co-chair urged the United Nations Security Council to swiftly withdraw the Sudan Armed Forces or SAF from Defra and Hecht areas because he believes SAF encourages Misseriya militants to attack Abyei citizens.
He also urged the United Nations Interim Force for Abyei or UNISFA to try their level best to protect civilians.
Mr Mading dismissed previous reports from the UN Security Council that SPLA was present in Abyei area.
