Sudan Catholic Bishops’ Conference or SCBC Secretary General will on Saturday leave for Lilongwe, Malawi to join the Association of Member Episcopal Conferences in Eastern Africa or AMECEA Secretaries in preparing for the 18th plenary scheduled to take place in July.
Fr Jacob Odwa told CRN on Friday that in July there would be 23 participants from South Sudan and Sudan in the AMECEA plenary.
He explained that the participants will include all Bishops, Administrators, Secretary General, Caritas South Sudan Executive Director, CRN Director, Pastoral Coordinator, three laity from different dioceses and Theology Major Seminary Rectors.
Fr Odwa said the AMECEA meeting is expected to invite people from Rome especially the President of the Pontifical Council for the Family and the representative of the Congregation for Evangelization of People.
He disclosed that AMECEA team will revisit South Sudan soon to be in solidarity with the people of the young country as they undergo difficulties.
AMECEA team headed by the Metropolitan Archbishop of Addis Ababa visited South Sudan in January following the mid December crisis and appealed for immediate and unconditional cessation of all hostilities in the country.
