The Pontifical President of Peace and Justice Commission in the Vatican on Friday opened a regular cabinet sitting with a word of prayer for peace in South Sudan.

Government spokesperson Michael Makuei Lueth after its ordinary sitting, told journalists that Cardinal Turkson Peter Kwadwo preached prayerfulness for peace talks in the country.

He said all members of the cabinet were given a prayer card reflecting 40 days of prayer, fasting, charity for justice, peace and reconciliation in South Sudan.

Mr Makuei told journalists that all ministers in the cabinet are Christians.

He added that there was no need for the cabinet to register converts or born again Christians because all of them believe in Christ.

The prayer requested God to grant South Sudanese leaders divine wisdom and help them promote respect, justice and true reconciliation.
