An environmental economist discovered that Juba is in a wrong place, considering geological features including the Nile and Rejaf volcanic mountain.

Kenyi Spencer on Wednesday told CRN in a telephone interview that the location of Juba City worries so much because there are disastrous natural activities including water flow, earthquakes, and volcanic eruption surrounding it.

He explained that the interruption of Nile River flow from east to west by human settlement in Juba is the major source of worry.

Dr Spencer added that some million years ago, the river was flowing freely, but the current occupation of its territory by the city is worrying.

The environmental economist said the dormant Rejaf volcanic mountain situated closely to Juba City poses another silent threat because dormant volcanic mountains can become active by blowing up any time.

Dr Spencer cited examples of dormant volcanic mountains in Italy and Kivu that blew up after very long dormancy, causing many damages of lives and property.

The Environmentalist recommended that channels should be built to avoid sharp disruption of water flow for protection at Cassava angle of the river.

Dr Spencer also suggested creation of diversion channels and bridges west of the river beyond Juba International Airport to minimize water pathways to the city.

The environmental economist urged geologists to verify the report and government to act swiftly to save the looming disaster worse than political insurgency in the country.
