South Sudan Human Rights Commission chairperson called on the government and opposition forces to respect and protect human rights to ease access for humanitarian assistance to conflict victims.
Lawrence Korbandy said the conflict took political and ethnic dimensions, calling on the warring parties to accept it as a fact, Bakhita Radio reported.
The Human Rights Commission chairperson made the remarks on Tuesday after presenting human rights report to the National Legislative Assembly.
He said the Commission noted wide abuses of the right to life, own property, education, disruption of livelihoods and provision of services to thousand South Sudanese in different states.
Advocate Korbandy said the only way to resolve the conflict is dialogue and negotiations for political settlement.
He said the report documents the findings of the Commission based on eye witnesses, secret observations and other human rights defenders’ analysis.
