Terekeka leads Central Equatoria in Primary Certificate Exams

Central Equatoria Education Minister on Monday declared that Terekeka County is leading the state in the 2013/2014 Primary Leaving Certificate Examination results scoring 98.2 percent.
 
Yastin Yokwe explained that Kajo-Keji County became number two scoring 91.2 and Yei River County took the third position with 79.9 percent passed.
 
He added that Juba County scored 77.5 and got the forth position followed by Lainya County with 67.3 percent.
 
The minister announced that Bosco Khamis Martin of EPC/Nehemiah Primary School in Yei is the first among the best ten candidates scoring 92 percent, followed by Magok James Acuil of Hope Primary in Juba who scored 90.6 percent.
 
The minister declared that Peter Akoach Santino of Christ the King Primary School in Yei became the third scoring 90.4 percent.
 
Mr Yokwe said they registered 8,997 candidates but due to the ongoing crisis 8,651 turned up for the exams of which 6,833 passed making 79 percent.
 
The Minister said government schools performed better scoring 86.5 percent compared to private schools that scored 83.1 percent.
 
He attributed the better performance to the fact that teachers did not go for strike.
