The Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba said ‘there is no body who advocates for peace using weapons’.

Bishop Santo Loku Pio while delivering his homily at St Theresa’s Cathedral Kator in Juba on Sunday said people who advocate for peace should come to South Sudan without guns, Bakhita Radio reported.

He criticized that the Inter-Governmental Authority on Development or IGAD’s resolution to deploy forces to South Sudan would worsen the situation of the already existing guns in the country.

Bishop Loku urged South Sudanese leaders to change and use the country’s resources for development rather than for importing more weapons.

The Auxiliary Bishop called on South Sudanese leaders to take care of their people instead of inviting other bodies.

He pointed out that the United Nations failed to bring peace in many parts of the world.

The Auxiliary Bishop called on the ruling party to change from SPLM to new name that brings all South Sudanese together.
