National Healing, Peace and Reconciliation Committee on Saturday met 42 Nuer and Dinka pastors to establish an alliance to reconcile the two communities.
Episcopal Church of South Sudan and Sudan or ECSSS Archbishop Daniel Deng Bul said the pastors came together to build trust among themselves first as a church body, but not as Dinka and Nuer communities, Bakhita Radio reported.
He said the pastors denied that the war taking place in South Sudan is of Dinka and Nuer, but a political crisis.
National Healing, Peace and Reconciliation Committee spokesperson Rev Peter Kot said the pastors agreed to form a seven-member ad hoc committee to lead peace and reconciliation process.
He said the pastors also agreed to lead a peaceful procession in Juba and other areas to denounce violence and reach peace.
Rev Kot said they resolved to meet government officials in UNMISS camp and other IDPs camps and encourage them to return to their homes as way of building trust.
Pastor Kot said the National Healing, Peace and Reconciliation Committee would support the work of the ad hoc committee in its quest for peace between the two communities.
