Central Equatoria Gender and Social Development Orthopaedics Director on Wednesday said the mid December crisis delayed the progress of the memorandum of understanding the ministry and Rotary Club UK signed on October 16 2013 for the establishment of Jaipur Limb Project in the state.
Peter Ibra said the the ongoing unrest interrupted the work was supposed to start between December 2013 and January, Bakhita Radio reported.
The Director said the facility for manufacturing crutches, wheelchairs, tricycles and prosthesis was very necessary because many soldiers were wounded and lost their limbs.
He added that there were many people who needed the products of the Jaipur project in South Sudan.
Mr Ibra stressed that the orthopaedics centre needed expansion during this time of armed conflict.
He said they were still in contact with the Rotary Club UK in preparation to start the project despite the delay.
The Director called on well-wishers to support the people leaving with disabilities.
He said currently the workshop is producing tricycles, wheelchairs, crutches for the affected population in South Sudan.
