Yei River County authorities in collaboration with Lamtoto Park security personnel arrested a dealer with 12 pieces of elephant tusks in Yei.

Yei Wildlife Service Director Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Taban Zachariah told the media on Monday that the dealer bought the tusks from poachers in Lalumba near Lamtoto National Park, Easter Radio reported.

He said the dealer was under custody and forces would patrol and crack down poachers in their hide outs.

Colonel Taban called on the national authority to supply enough forces and vehicles to patrol and follow dealers.

The Director said Wildlife law fines an elephant dealer with 10 thousand South Sudanese Pounds and five years imprisonment.
