University of Bahr El Ghazal or UBG students on Monday morning marched to United Nations Mission in South Sudan or UNMISS compound in Wau calling for an end to the Mission chanting that ‘UNMISS must leave, Hilde Johnson must leave’.

The students said they demonstrated against the shameful acts of the Mission in supporting the SPLM/A in opposition led by Riek Machar, Voice of Hope reported.

Students’ representative Mawien Ayom accused the Mission of going astray from its mandate of peacekeeping in South Sudan by supporting Dr Machar’s movement.

They handed their memo to Western Bahr El Ghazal UNMISS State Coordinator.

UNMISS State Coordinator Winny Babihuga urged the students to remain calm and peaceful as they forward the memo to the UN headquarters for immediate attention.

She reiterated UNMISS’ continuous support to the government in order to maintain peace in Western Bahr El Ghazal.

The protest sparked after government security organs intercepted weapons in Rumbek, Lakes on their way to Bentiu, Unity State.
