Eastern Equatoria Legislative Assembly resolved demolition of old market along Torit-Juba road so that traders move to the model market.

The resolution was reached during a debate to revive Torit-Juba road market after demolition of Omoliha market, Emmanuel Radio reported.

In a deliberation chaired by Acting Speaker, Paul Napwon, MPs offered several resolutions on markets.

State Parliament summoned Torit Mayor, Stephen Osfaldo Loboli and Infrastructure minister, Hassan Alex Urbano to answer questions over markets controversy.

Issues of allocation of plots and ownership in the model market also sparked heated debate among legislators during the session.

Torit town Mayor Stephen Osfaldo Loboli clarified that he was implementing the 90 days directive of the Governor to organize the town.

He said the Torit-Juba road market came as a result of demolition of Omoliha Market.

The MPs forced the Mayor to withdraw a statement demanding to know who seconded the motion to summon him to the House.
