Central Equatoria Physical Infrastructure minister on Friday described Yei-Lasu road as very strategic to South Sudan development.

Jimmy Wongo said the road was important and would boost South Sudan economy, Easter Radio reported.

Dr Wongo said Yei and Lasu people were rich, but could not realize their wealth due to no road to take their products to markets and earn money for educating their children.

He said Yei-Lasu road connects South Sudan to Dr Congo and reach to the Atlantic Ocean to boost business with the world.

Yei River Commissioner Juma David Augustine reaffirmed the County’s commitment to guide the constructor to accomplish the project well.

He said the county regretted it lost at the first contract.

Commissioner Juma called for a proper coordination between constructors, Roads and Bridges ministry and the county authority.

The national ministry of Roads and Bridges funded Yei-Lasu road rehabilitation collaboration with the World Bank and the Central Equatoria government.
