UJOSS condemns blocking media houses

The Union of Journalists of South Sudan or UJOSS strongly condemned the State government move to block media houses from broadcasting state assembly’s decision of voting out its Finance minister last week.
 
UJOSS Western Bahr El Ghazal branch secretary in Wau James Deng Dimo said journalists need freedom of expression, Voice of Hope reported.
 
He called n the state government to allow all media houses to broadcast stories they covered without censorship.
 
Mr Deng clarified that it was not the right of State Information minister to block journalists from broadcasting stories subjected to the government.
 
The branch secretary urged the state government and the Information minister to sit together to ensure that journalists are not subjected to any obstacles in the field.
 
He called for cooperation between the government and the media because journalists reflect the voice of the government and the community.
 
Mr Deng added that journalists should be given access to information.
 
The State assembly summoned State Information Minister to answer why the government radio station did not broadcast parliament decision of voting out Finance minister.
