Workers Trade Union delegation head urged all civil servants to remain calm and patiently wait for the resolution of housing allowances issue.

Chairperson of delegation Arkangelo Lueth Kuot said workers should not take the law into their hands, but follow all amicable ways to resolve the deadlock without misunderstanding with the government, Good News Radio reported.

He said the committee failed to meet Governor Matur Chut on Friday due to some emergency engagements at the Secretariat, but promised to meet him early next week.

An anonymous source said there were fears that teachers might not teach as the academic year begins on Monday in the state and that medics could also lay down their tools if the delegation failed to reach consensus with the governor.

Teachers in Rumbek, Lakes State on Wednesday protested against alleged government refusal to pay them allowances.

The controversial issue of housing allowances prompted Governor Chut Dhuol on Thursday to suspend four government officials and subjected them to investigation.
