Fire consumed traders’ shops and goods at Hawker Market in Yei worth twenty three thousand South Sudanese Pounds on Tuesday.
The gutted commodities included belts of clothes, oil, paste machine and refrigerators, Easter Radio reported.
Joseph Angiro, a trader who lost goods and a shop said the fire started from his neighbour at around nine PM and spread to other shops reducing them to ashes.
He lamented that all efforts exerted to put off the fire that grew wild were too late to save goods and shops.
Yei River County Chamber of Commerce third vice chairman Felix Sebit said the case of fire outbreak was the first of its kind in the market.
He said they would meet all traders to seek support to those who lost their goods and property on fire.
The third vice chairman urged traders to help one another during difficult moments.
Over six shops were reduced to ashes including goods with only a burnt paste machine rescued.
