Western Bahr El Ghazal and Equatoria reached a deal to repair a 267-kilometres road linking the two states.
Physical Infrastructure ministers from both states met on Wednesday in Wau to clear on the estimates of the road repair following engineers’ visibility studies.
Clement Juma Mbugoniwa of Western Equatoria said the road is expected to cost two million South Sudanese Pounds to be met by both state governments.
He called upon the two states to shoulder the responsibility of repairing the road because the national government at the moment focuses on security and other emergencies.
Western Bahr El Ghazal Roads and Bridges Director David Jerome Upwa said the road has economic viability to their state.
He said the project will cost 108,500 Pounds to repair 32 kilometres of critical sections, one million for installing 21 culverts and 300 thousand Pounds for mobilization.
The road repair is expected to complete in four months.
