Missionary Sisters Servants of the Holy Spirit on Tuesday arrived in Yei Catholic Diocese to join fellow sisters in the evangelization and rendering other services.
The Regional Superior Sister Maria Jerly Renacia said they came to work and share joys and struggles of the people of South Sudan, Easter Radio reported.
She said they heard about the country’s unrest, but stressed that one should always be grateful to God for the life and blessings he gave.
Yei Catholic Diocesan Secretary General Emmanuel Lodongo Sebit thanked the sisters for services and acquainting themselves with situation in Yei and South Sudan as a sign of love and solidarity.
He prayed that the visiting sisters continue to produce many sisters for the diocese and for taking tough missions not only in South Sudan, but other parts of the world.
Fr Lodongo stressed the need for more priests and sisters to expand and deepen evangelization in remote parts of the diocese.
One of the Sisters Sheeba Thurackal Mathwe expressed happiness for being in the country, urging South Sudanese to be peace lovers.
The sisters and the priest made the remarks during a morning mass at Christ the King Cathedral on Wednesday.
