Yei Mayoress urged girls in the county, state and the country at large to commit themselves to education.

Oba Cecilia Tito told the press that some girls lack commitment to learn despite their parents’ will to support them, Easter Radio reported.

She noted that some girls wasted time outside with friends while lessons were flowing in their classes.

The Mayoress appealed to parents to discourage early and forced marriages, but support their education for prosperous future.

Ms Oba urged parents to support pregnant girls to deliver safely and resume their education.

The Mayoress called for equal promotion of both boys’ and girls’ education to develop the country.

She cautioned that if girls’ education was not promoted, the gap would continue to widen.

The Mayoress urged communities, government and partners to embark on education through opening more nursery and adult schools for all levels.
