Yei Catholic Diocese on Tuesday organized prayers to commemorate the International Day of sick people at St Bakhita Health Centre.
Diocesan Sick Chaplain Daniel Tomiylan said the commemoration was to show solidarity with the sick in hospitals and at residents, Easter Radio reported.
He called for spiritual, moral and material support to the sick in order to strengthen them both physically, mentality and spiritually.
The Chaplain said solidarity with the sick drives away loneliness among neglected sick people.
Fr Tomilyan called on people to support the sick generously and see God in them.
He said helping sick people based on tribe and wealth would not help the society progress.
Christ the King Parish Priest Tom Poru Martin said there were many sick people at homes who failed to go for medical treatment due to lack of money.
He said sins brought too much suffering to people in which some died due to bad practices including corruption.
Fr Poru called for tireless prayers for the sick in medical centres and at homes.
