Juba City Council Deputy Mayor for Land and Development said a sound master plan was underway to make Juba one of the most attractive cities in the world.

Festus Abdel Aziz James told CRN on Thursday that the City Council needed a comparative master plan from global cities to restructure current infrastructures.

He added that after securing the city master plan, they would implement it in gradual phases.

Professor Festus cited challenges hindering the progress of the plan in Juba City including lack of funding from state and national governments.

He added that some individual tenders in the market management interfered with the Council’s revenue generation from markets.

The Deputy Mayor said they were determined to upgrade the city despite the obstacles.

Professor Abdel Aziz said the Council was implementing local orders banning careless dumping of empty water bottles.

He said the enforcement agents were carrying out awareness campaign for successful implementation.

The Deputy Mayor was launching Transport Trade Union to avert crimes of insecurity and theft resulting from congestion in city parks.
