Fire guts motorboat in Juba River Port

A wild fire broke out at Juba River Port and destroyed unknown number of fuel drums on Friday.
 
Ministry of Transport Roads and Bridges Undersecretary David Martin Hassan said they were still investigating the cause of fire outbreak, Bakhita Radio reported.
 
He said the ministry earlier issued an order banning petrol loading at the port.
 
Juba Port Cargo Vessel Inspector Charles Juma urged motorboat owners to follow instructions of refueling their boats.
 
He suspected failure of workers as the causes of the fire outbreak at the Port.
 
Kator Payam Administrative Officer Alison Samule Taliga said it was the fourth time that motorboats transporting goods from Juba to Bor, Malakal and Wau caught fire.
 
He lamented that fire always consumes commodities and affect business.
 
Mr Samule urged the Fire Brigade force to establish their office at the Port to avoid pollution of air and the Nile water.
 
Central Equatoria Fire Brigade Director Colonel John Tomnyan Daniel saidSouth Sudanese have to be alert on fire outbreak.
 
He advised parents to keep children far from fire to reduce outbreaks.
 
Mr Daniel said transport, the nature of construction in Juba and communication were major challenges facing the Fire Brigade.
