Central Equatoria government on Friday expressed its commitment to protect lives and property of civilians.
State government spokesperson Suba Samuel Manasseh urged citizens not to rely on rumours but seek correct information from the government, Bakhita Radio reported.
He warned citizens against spreading wild rumours that cause fear and panic in the state.
The spokesperson called on citizens to cooperate by reporting any suspicious movement of armed groups for government to take quick action.
He said the state government supports the ongoing peace process in Ethiopia under the Intergovernmental Authority on Development.
The spokesperson strongly condemned the alleged coup attempt that claimed many lives.
He said the state government reminded the army to protect citizens.
Mr Samuel advised citizens to embrace the culture of peace, tolerance, peaceful co-existence, unity and love for one another.
