Bishop appeals for security improvement in Juba

The Auxiliary Bishop of the Catholic Archdiocese of Juba appealed to Central Equatoria and national governments to quickly address security problems in Juba to enable displaced people return to their homes.
 
Bishop Santo Loku Pio told Bakhita Radio that the state and the national governments should quickly improve security in Juba for people to resettle.
 
He said civilians continue to be scared at their residence to the extent of returning to sleep at church compounds.
 
Bishop Loku added that citizens now feel the church is the only place to stay because they believe God protects them.
 
He called on the state and national governments to protect and support citizens who left their houses due to insecurity.
 
Bishop Loku pointed out that alleged coup plotters must accept their mistakes for the peace negotiations in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia to succeed.
 
He said the warring parties must be held accountable for lives lost and destruction in the country.
 
Bishop Loku added that reconciliation can only come if mistakes were accepted.
 
He called on the organized forces to refrain from unnecessary shooting that threaten civilians.
