Yei River County Commissioner urged South Sudanese to unite, reconciliation and love one another for peace to prevail in the country.
Juma David Augustine made the called on Sunday at Christ the King Cathedral after Brigadier Peter Taab defected on Saturday night leaving citizens panicking, Easter Radio reported.
He encouraged citizens to continue having hope for peace.
The Commissioner warned that Yei County authority would not entertain any person shooting guns.
Commissioner Juma asked citizens to remain calm because the situation was under control in the County.
He enlightened people that the conflict was not created by all Nuer, but some individuals who misunderstood.
The Commissioner said the government would not drag the country back into war because many lives were lost during the liberation struggle.
He said county authorities were committed to provide security and protect people.
Commissioner Juma asked all the displaced people to return to their homes.
