Médecins Sans Frontières or MSF said more than 70 thousand people mostly women and children from Bor in Jonglei State gathered in Awerial in Lakes State and were in need of humanitarian aid.

MSF Emergency Coordinator in Awerial Aurélie Dupont described conditions of the displaced people as catastrophic and needed urgent medical and humanitarian assistance.

He said ‘the situation for these women and children is very alarming,’ there is no clean water, no food, and no place to shelter or sleep. They are relying solely on the help of the local population’.

MSF head of Mission in South Sudan David Nash said humanitarian response in Lakes state was very small.
